So… somehow a song for the Iowa Land Title Association about county records turned into a full blown heartbreak anthem.

This started as a joke.

Then halfway through writing it we realized: wait… this is actually kind of good.

“County Records Never Do” is about a female abstractor in Iowa who spends her days digging through courthouse records, tracing chains of title, finding gaps in paperwork, and spotting problems other people miss.

Then she meets a guy whose stories change every time he talks.

And because she literally spends her whole life uncovering truth for a living… she catches on fast.

“He may lie, but county records never do.”

That line became the entire song.

Honestly, the weirdest part is how naturally the abstracting world fits into country music.

Long courthouse days. Coffee. Dusty records. Small towns. Hidden history. Heartbreak.

It was already halfway there.

This one’s for the abstractors, courthouse workers, title people, and anyone who’s ever had a gut feeling somebody wasn’t telling the whole story. Turns out county records make pretty good witnesses.
